Phylicia Barnes

I have really been dreading writing about this only because I REALLY wanted this situation to have a different outcome. Well for all who didn’t know the body of Phylicia Barnes was found floating in the Susquehanna River near the Conowingo Dam. She was found naked and her race could not be determined at that time they only knew that they had a female body. Well after a few hours into the investigation someone stated that she had a tattoo similar to that of Phylicia. While everyone watched the news holding their breath it was becoming obvious by the updates that they knew that it was the body of Phylicia. So watching and waiting the medical examiner requested her dental records. So while watching and waiting we all hoped that it wasn’t her. I scrolled through the articles about her disappearance and really became upset that no one would say anything and that everyone just sat in silence and watched this family suffer. I refuse to believe that no one saw anything. I than started to think of the positives, that her family didn’t give up and that they kept fighting to keep her everywhere. I thought of the 200 volunteers who helped search the Patapsco state park, and that helped to remind me that humanity is not completely lost. I applaud the Baltimore City Police that they kept searching and kept the case moving even when running into dead ends. So in the midst of all this playing out in my mind a breaking news alert comes across that screen Phylicia’s dad advised a NC TV station that it was her body that was found. So now the family has her and some form of closure. It makes me think about the distance between where she was and where she ended up, doesn’t make sense. How did she get there? How long has she been there? I know these are the same questions the family is asking. Well Today the Baltimore Homicide Investigators advised that her death has been ruled a homicide and that she was in fact murdered. They are not releasing how she was murdered or how they came to that conclusion, because it is important to the case. They have now started to re-interview anyone who was in that apartment the last night. They have also started interviewing family in and outside of Maryland. The police also state that they are open to the idea that more that one person was involved. I hope and pray that everyone that has something to do with what happen to this girl is caught and they get what is DUE to them. The funeral is private but it is being streamed for those that want to log on to pay their respects www.sbclive.org.
R.I.P. Phylicia Barnes
