Government SHUT DOWN....REALLY?
Should we be worried about a government shut down? What would a government shut down entail? Well the last time the government shut down was in 1995 going into 1996. Well from my reading if the government shuts down national parks, museums, and monuments are closed to the public who helped to pay for them. Passports will not be process, but mail would be delivered. All work on federal cases such bankruptcies would halt and healthcare for vets would stop (HA!)Which I find to be terrible because these people fought so that you could be arrogant enough to shut down the government? After reading all the articles and getting both sides of the story it is just plain selfish to not consider the actual people who voted you in and will be affected. The republicans state that the president’s budget is smoke and mirrors and President Obama states the republicans have political initiatives in their proposal that will have a long term affect on American people. It seems as though both sides are standing on their beliefs and not bending or reaching a compromise and that there will be a government shutdown. So Friday close of business may be close of business for federal employees for awhile. If it happens I hope it is short term.I find this whole situation to be sad because in the midst of all of this you have federal employees who will be directly affected by these actions. There are some 800,000 federal workers whose livelihoods, homes, and families will be waiting in limbo without work until an agreement is made ….yeah this is a great way to boost the economy. I will not say that I understand politics 100% but I will say that allowing American citizens to suffer for personal agenda is selfish. I hope and pray that an agreement is met and that the situation is worked out.
